Coronavirus and cancelled events: this is what you need to know!
Do you have tickets for an event cancelled due to the coronavirus, such as a concert, Eurovision Song Contest, Grand Prix or festival? Then you are entitled to a refund of the amount you paid for the ticket.
Your rights if the event is rescheduled
Due to the coronavirus, organisers are forced to reschedule events or cancel them permanently. If the ticket vendor makes you an offer for a different date, you do not have to accept. You will be entitled to a refund of the ticket price and service fees.
No right to compensation
Did you incur a loss by moving or cancelling the event? For example if you booked a hotel, rented a car or purchased a train ticket? Such losses are for your own risk and expense. You are not entitled to compensation.
Your consumer rights in the context of the coronavirus
The consequences of the coronavirus are very substantial for everyone. In this exceptional situation, exercising your legal rights is not necessarily the right thing to do. You could consider taking your losses and see the ticket price as a donation, enabling event organisers to continue their business.
