Power of attorney

Do you have a problem with a company based in another EU country, Norway or Iceland, and would you like the European Consumer Centre (ECC) to help you? Then we ask you to complete a power of attorney. This form gives us permission to contact the company on your behalf. It allows us to support you better and resolve your complaint more quickly. On this page, you can download the power of attorney form. We also explain step by step what we need from you.

How it works:

Step 1

Download the power of attorney form using the ‘Download power of attorney’ button below and save the file on your computer, tablet or phone.

Step 2

After downloading the power of attorney form, please complete it. You can do this in two ways. 

Fill in the form digitally (recommended)

You can complete the form on your computer or tablet.

  • Open the PDF file using a program such as Adobe Acrobat Reader (free to download) or another PDF reader (e.g. Preview on a Mac).
  • Click on the form fields and enter your details.
  • Add your digital signature.
  • In Adobe Acrobat Reader: click the pen icon ‘Fill & Sign’.
  • Check that all information has been filled in correctly.
  • Save the file using your case number. Example: PowerOfAttorney_eccnl-50000.pdf
    You can find your case number in the confirmation email you received after submitting your complaint.

Fill in the form by hand (print and scan)

If you are unable to complete the form digitally, you can fill it in by hand.

  • Open the PDF file and click ‘Print’.
  • Fill in the form completely using a pen.
  • Sign the form.
  • Scan the form using a scanner (or a scan app) or take a clear photo. Make sure all corners are visible and the text is easy to read.

Step 3

Send the completed document to us by email. Please do this by replying to the email you received from the case handler. This way, the power of attorney will be added directly to your file. If you are unable to send the power of attorney by email, please send it by post to:
