British Flybe files for bankruptcy
The British airline Flybe has definitively entered into administration. The company announces today that it has filed for bankruptcy and ceases all activities with immediate effect. Was your flight cancelled due to Flybe’s bankruptcy? Here is what you can do!
Package holidays and linked travel arrangements
Have you booked a package holiday or combined travel arrangement that includes a flight that would be operated by the airline Flybe? Please contact the tour operator where you booked the trip as soon as possible. The tour operator is obliged to take guarantee measures so that you, as a traveller, are protected in the event of bankruptcy.
Rebooking airline ticket
If you have booked a flight ticket directly with the airline Flybe, your cancelled flight will not be rebooked by the airline. In this case, you can book a new airline ticket with another airline. The British government has called on all airlines to offer reduced fares to those affected.
Charge-back
Have you recently booked your flight ticket and did you pay for the transaction with your credit card? Then contact your credit card company. Ask about the possibilities of submitting a charge-back request for the relevant transaction.
Flight ticket insurance
Did you take out flight ticket insurance while booking your flight ticket? Then you'll probably be granted a refund. File your claim to the booking site or travel agency where you purchased the airline ticket.
Flybe bankrupt! What now?
As soon as the bankruptcy has been declared by a British court, a trustee (administrator for receivership) will be appointed. Passengers who have a claim against the failed airline can file this in writing with the trustee. Keep an eye on our website for the announcement of trustee appointments. We will also share a sample letter that you can use to submit your claim.
